ASSIGNMENT
4: INTRODUCTION
Introduction
Purpose and Rationale
Introduction
We
will be performing lo-fi prototype testing of PhotoCat, a Web-based
photo management system. We've created an interactive, paper-based
prototype that enables users to visualize and organize their photo
collections via a central "bullseye" interface. The prototype
combines central elements of the People
Petals and TuLiP designs
that were developed in Assignment 3. For more about the design,
see the Prototype section.

Purpose
and Rationale
Since
our bullseye interface represents a major shift away from how people
normally manage their photos, we're very interested in seeing how
our testing participants initially react to the system and then
how they go about using it to complete the task scenarios. We also
want to look at how users apply the album and sharing features to
work with photos that have special meaning. The PhotoCat interface
attempts to fit a lot of information into a relatively small space.
After testing, we may want to enhance the features that participants
found especially useful and play down the features they didn't use
or had a hard time understanding.
