ASSIGNMENT 3: PRIMARY PERSONA

As we moved into the design phase of PhotoCat, we chose a "primary persona" whose needs overlapped those of the other personas. Making this person happy with our PhotoCat design would most likely make the others happy as well.

Darla Garcia (PRIMARY PERSONA): The Darla persona combines needs for both the organizational and sharing capabilities of PhotoCat. One of Darla's goals is to use her camera phone to capture milestones in her son's life. She will most likely need to go back to many of her milestone photos in the future, which makes organization important. She also has a large social circle that includes relatives and other mommies. This makes sharing features important. While Darla is technologically proficient, the people she shares with might not be, which is something we need to keep in mind as we design our application.

Steve Steep: The nature of Steve's photos (vacations, adventures, and accomplishments) means that he will want to organize his photos. However, his social circle isn't as large as Darla's.

Sarah Jones: While Sarah shares with a lot of people, the nature of her photos are more "spur of the moment," so her organizational needs are limited.

Jake Parker: Similar to Sarah, Jake's needs center on sharing, not organizing. We also thought that Jake was too technologically inept to serve as a good primary persona. He wouldn't be interested in using the more advanced features of PhotoCat.
