ASSIGNMENT
5: SCREEN SHOTS AND WALKTHROUGH

A full screen
shot of the main screen of PhotoCat: Time Range has been set
to "Month," Location and Friends are defaulted to "all"
and the time period has been set to September 2004. Unique to the
screen is that it shows the clustering and burst activity typical
to a user: all of the pictures in this month are from sailing trips.
As shown here, you can see that this user typically went sailing
on a weekend--Saturday or Sunday--during the middle part of the
day, and took multiple bursts of photos during that time. The use
of the rollover reveals photos that at first appear to be "buried"
in the middle of the stack, enabling them to be clicked and placed
in the photo bin.
Another month
view--June 2004: We will walk through what happens as we focus
in and narrow the time range.
Here, we've
adjusted the parameters of the June 2004 month display to show the
week range of June 19-25. The display refreshes to show these pictures.
The bin still retains photos from the previous screen; bin photos
are not lost when the bullseye filter parameters are changed.
Focusing on
a a day view from the previously displayed week results in this
display. Note that PhotoCat employs a scattering algorithm so that
when bands dynamically increase in width, more of the thumbnails
may be revealed, allowing for easier browsing capabilities.
In combination
with the Friends filter, we further focus the display to show pictures
that only include Jake as being co-present at the time of capture.
Next, we'll
walkthrough the screens and actions that take place when we work
with photos in the Photo Bin.
