USE
OF INTERFACE FEATURES
In
the pilot tests, we measured how many times our subjects used
nine of PhotoCat's interface features. The data is reported in
the Results
section.
High
use could suggest that the feature is obvious and/or useful. Low
use could suggest that the feature is not obvious and/or is not
useful.
TIME
SPENT ON TASKS
We
also recorded the time spent on each task and how the time was
split between the two views (bull's eye and grid).
For
tasks where the user was given a well-defined goal, shorter times
could suggest the system (or a particular view) was easy to use.
For more browsing-oriented tasks, the relation of time to ease
of use is less clear. Shorter times could suggest that the interface
was easy to use. On the other hand, longer times could suggest
that the interface was enjoyable to use.
