Instructions for Using the Prototype
The first interactive prototype is not fully functional. Some pages contain dummy data and do not communicate with the database. See the overview of the prototype for details about what is missing.
Also, the annotation functionality is behind a login. You will
be asked for a username and password. Please use
username: user00
password: ann0tate
(that is ann0tate with a zero, not a capital "o").
Task Set 1.
- Start from the gene list:
- View the annotation history for the first gene on the list.
- This is not a direct click-through task.
- Modify the existing annotation for that gene with data from another gene
that's a homolog: GO function; EC number; COG group; Gene Name.
- Please note that there is no validation in the first interactive prototype. Also, the transfer function on 'Compare and Transfer Annotation' is not operational. Please play your own 'Wizard of Oz,' and input test data manually.
- Submit your annotation.
- Preview page will appear prompting user to review his/her changes.
- Please note that in the first interactive prototype the entries are not written to the database.
Task Set 2.
- Start from the gene list:
- Express your opposition to the annotation for the first gene on the list.
- This is not a direct click-through task.
Task Set 3.
- Start from the Gene Cart:
- Change an annotation by adding a COG group.
- Please note that there is no validation in the first interactive prototype.
- Add this gene to your list of watched annotations.
Task Set 4.
- Start from the Gene Cart:
- Comment on annotations for multiple genes.
- A list of genes needs to be selected for executing a batch comment.
Task Set 5.
- View your watched annotations.
- Starting from anywhere on the site, find where you can view your watched annotations.
