Sensing Part 1: Potentiometers

 
DESCRIPTION:
 The goal of this assignment was to introduce us to controlling LEDs with potentiometers. I used two potentiometers in the circuit, one that controlled brightness of the LEDs, and one that controlled blinking. I put a diffuser over it so I could see the colours fade into each other better. Because of the pots, I had control over the LEDs at an extended range.

Description:
The project was to control the leds with 3 or 2 potentiometers. I was intending to control my leds with 2 potentiometers, with one controlling the blinking and one doing something fancy. I ran into issues with my arduino atmel (since I don't own an uno) and I kept getting the error "programmer not available" error. After a lot of googling I found out that it might be a hardware I had to give up last minute, and I ended up using my roommates Aruduino Uno and going ahead with the Lab example of using 3 potentiometers and controlling RGB with them.

Description:
I took the existing arduino setup from the 3 LED assignment.  From there I soldered the appropriate wires to the potentiometer.  Upon connecting the potentiometer, I loaded the code for controlling the brightness of the LED. I continued use the potentiometer to control the blinking speed as well. I decided that I wanted all of the LED's to turn on and one of the potentiometers to control the amount of delay between each color. If you spin the potentiometer, the lights will alternate between each color, slower or faster depending on direction. 

Description: I soldered three pots in class and connected them to my Arduino. Each potentiometer changes the brightness of a specific LED, allowing me to mix colors based on the analog input through the pots.

DESCRIPTION
In this lab, we explored how potentiometers (pots) can be used as analog input to control LED traits, such as dimness or blink speed. We began by soldering three wires to our pots and setting up our breadboard to connect to one LED light. The two pots (with newly soldered wires) are connected to the analog input to control different aspects of the LED light; in this case the dimness and the blink speed of the single LED. One purpose is to understand how analog inputs work and the wide spectrum of inputs that we can work with.

I reassembled my LED circuit for one LED and added in a potentiometer in order to control the blinking speed and then brightness. Though I am still weak in terms of understanding how circuits work, I figured out that only new connection between the Ardunio and Breadboard was the 5V, which powered the Potentiometer's 5V. I then connected Potentiometer's grounding and analog cables to the Ardunio.
