Design Issues

Sign Up

Sign up is below the fold. Kids who are sent to the sign-up page see only the "sign in" boxes and try to fill those out instead.
When there is a sign-up error, the form should redisplay information that has been correctly entered, or show user only the problematic fields.
Consider eliminating city from the requirements for sign-up. Kids have trouble spelling the city names.
Explain what a password is.
Prompt users to write down their passwords.
Consider adding a sign-up link to the Treehouse page.

Find a Book

As long as the database is small, consider having a complete list of books to choose from, so you don't have to search at all.
Separate the title search from the author search. Kids assume that they need to fill in both boxes.
0 search results should bring user back to the Find Book screen.
Reduce length of the book summaries
Consider moving reviews above "who else is reading?" so that they will appear above the fold.

Tell Kids What You Thought

Consider making all text entry uppercase, so that kids do not have to deal with managing the Shift key.

Review a Book

Change labels to make it clear that is informal. Perhaps offer link to an example review? (That might restrict their creativity too much.)

Other Areas

Remove text from bottom of member rewards page.
What's a bookshelf? Make this clear from the Book Info page-no way to find out currently.
Add a way out of the certificate and bookmark pages (or have them open into a new window).
Display member status on Bookshelf.

Bugs

Labels on sign-up fields are misaligned.

Bookshelf does not get refreshed when users sign in.

Background pattern not visible on Treehouse and Book Review pages.

Error if you click "Check 'em out" without selecting a Treehouse member.

"Thanks for rating!" appears even when user is just seeing what other kids thought about a poll item.

"Here are the first 10 books" and Print/Save Results appears even when there are 0 search results.

Add exit to bookmark and certificate.

Nickname should be in green everywhere it appears in a book review.
