The twinkling glass
Description:
In this assignment I created the input/output coincidence on a wine glass. The experiment starts with an empty wine glass. While the glass is empty a very fast musical note plays along with fast blinking LED. You cannot figure out the song. As we pour water into the wine glass, the music slows down and you can hear the song more clearly. The tempo keeps going down as more water is poured.The LED inside the glass beats according to the tempo of the song.

The goal of the assignment was to design an artifact that showed input/output coincidence.
I tried to create a simple “Simon Says” emulator. Basically the user will enter a combination of key presses with commensurate light blink and buzzer sound for a set duration. After a while, the device will play back the sequence.

A drop is detected by an analogRead on the piezo speaker. After some experimentation I came to a fairly low threshold (10) to recognize soft drops.  I think I could have weighted the ball more to increase reliability and get more sizable readings.
 
I didn't do much coding of my own on this one.  Mostly re-using the knock sensor example to gather input from the piezo speaker.
 

For this project I created a vase that changes the song it plays depending the level of water contained inside. The water level is detected by the fsr placed beneath the vase. The basic pattern remains the same, but the notes change, as the water level increases or decreases. Dropping glass stones or pouring more water into the vase allows a user to change up the music. An LED illuminates the vase and pulses with the music.

This lab focused on input-output coincidence. Using Arduino language I coded for a light input (using a photosensor) with an LED output.

Arduino Pressure Sensitive Light Balloon
 
For this lab, I blew up a balloon (actually, a white cleaning glove), and used my hand to squeeze a Force Sensitive Resistor (FSR) connected to the back of the balloon. This turned on an LED that was behind the balloon, based on the amount of pressure that the hand is squeezing the balloon with. No squeeze is no light, easy is red, medium blue, hard green.
 

Description
For this week's lab, I was inspired by lighted jewelry boxes. I created a jewelry holder that mimics this effect and lights up once jewelry is placed on the stand. Once you place bracelets on the jewelry holder, a photocell is blocked from light and a blue LED illuminates the glass of the holder.
