Statement of Informed Consent

A group of Masters students in the School of Information Management and Systems at UC Berkeley is conducting a study to test the interface of an Internet book-selling system.

If you vounteer to participate in this study, you will be asked to work with a paper prototype of an interface, performing basic tasks related to book buying and selling. We will record your oral comments during the test. These comments may be used in a research paper. We may also take picutes of your hands doing particular tasks.

There are no direct benefits to you for participating other than what may be an eductional experience in viewing the paper prototyping process. Thereare also probably no risks to you; you will simply be flipping through sheets of paper, choosing categories. We will associate an ID number with any notes we take and will keep no record of the link between your name and ID number. We will not name you if and when we discuss your behavior in research publications. We will only refer to you by your ID number in any research paper.
