My Library

The library includes a "Yuck" option (the trashcan) to indicate books that a kid has read and disliked. These items would inform future recommendations (similar to "Worst Bets" at Movie Critic). From looking at other child-oriented sites, it seems kids enjoy talking about what they don't like almost as much as what they do like. (See CBC 4 Kids Worst Songs and The Yuckiest Site on the Internet.)

Bookshelf

From this page, a user can rate and review books. At the top, we might display ReadingTree status (Amity's idea)--if kid has rated or reviewed a certain number of books, then they can print a certificate of achievement and also have a title, such as Lumberjack or Treeclimber. (Not sure about what the hierarchy should be--the tree metaphor is a little tricky--want something clever but not too cute.)
