In this lecture we introduce concepts and methods for process modeling of information systems and information-intensive services. We’ll discuss the multi-level conceptual model of a "business process" developed by the ebXML standards effort:

• A process consists of one or more collaborations
• A collaboration consists of one or more transactions
• The transaction is the basic unit at which information exchanges occur between the participants (e.g, the service provider and customer)

We'll also discuss transaction patterns.
