Lab6 - Chiptune Musicbox!

Submitted by Jenton on Mon, 03/04/2013 - 00:56

Description: I've created a simple music box, where 4 songs are programmed into the  board. By tapping on the FSR, you play one note in the song. The faster you tap the FSR, the faster the song will play, thereby allowing the user to dictate his own tempo. One of the potentiometer controls which of the 4 songs will play, and the other pot modules the pitch of the song slightly (but I haven't figured out a way to do this so it pitch shifts the entire song correctly).

I also used a 'pitches.h' file that created a hash table to correlate notes to their frequencies.

Also, I coded this solution in a very brute force type of manner. I didn't know how to implement a setup where the different songs could be kept in a master array. I couldn't figure out a better solution other than repeating my code for each different song.

Items used:

  • 2 pots
  • 1 FSR
  • Arduino Uno
  • Breadboard
  • Lots of cable
  • Box to house the sensors

Code:
