Digital I/O with Arduino Boards + Diffuser

The goal of this assigment was to connect three LEDs to the arduino and manipulate the intensity of each of those via keyboard input that is read through the Serial port of the arduino
 
Question 2:
Modified the code to read a series of characters as input (say - rrrr) and then change the intensity of the color. for example, pressing r 5 times would set the intensity of red to 50%. I used 127 as 50% of the intensity (from the base code)

Description
This lab was to program a fading of LEDs covered by a diffuser to observe how the light from LEDs spread over the diffuser material. I chose a kitchen tissue rolled up into a cone as the diffuser. I also modified the code to reduce the time interval between consequent delays to observe the color changes quickly. Code attached in DigitalIOQuestion1.txt
 

Description
The setup on the breadboard was carried over from lab (though I redid it to have a cleaner overall layout and to get the LEDs more closely clustered together). For the code I went pretty simple, going with the suggested method of counting the length of the input to determine the brightness. I went with 10% increments with a special effect (my first easter egg!) for those who attempt to set the brightness higher than 100%. 

Description:
The purpose of the lab was to collect user input from the serial terminal and adjust as necessary the analog output of the three LEDs.
Using a diffuser, a combination of the red-green-blue light can create a range of colors.
I used two coffee filters positioned with ample room above the LEDs. The additional distance allowed light to reflect off of the walls of the coffee filter and diffuse together.

Description
This project started off with the Fade program to ensure that the basic arduino setup was correct. After confirming that the circuit was properly setup with Fade, I added LEDs to the breadboard. Wires from ports 9, 10, and 11 connect to the breadboard and then each connects to a resistor and then to a LED. Each LED outputs to the breadboard bus that connects to ground. The 

Description
I created a diffuser out of a cotton pad, plastic bag, and rubber band. I initially started with only the plastic bag, but found that the diffusion wasn't very smooth. The cotton pad seemed to help a lot with it.

Description
I wanted to make a diffuser out of cloth, for a soft appearance, so I made a diffuser by stitching a cotton pad into a sack shape.

Description

In this lab we explored the Pulse width modulation which imitates analog behaviour even when a digital input is given. We also used the serial communication which enabled us to send an input through our keyboards to control the  LEDs. I used Red, Green and Blue LEDs for this lab. The circuit was created as per the diagram provided in class. In order to create the fading lights, the example code was uploaded to the microcontroller. After this another example to provide the serial input was uploaded which enabled the brightness of the light to be controlled by user input .
