First-Interactive Prototype

Scenarios

Since we made many major changes to our design, the original scenarios do not apply to our new design. We design three new scenarios based on our revised personas.

1. Quick BigMac

Ming did not have breakfast this morning, so he decides to come to McDonald's to get his lunch. He then spots this electronic ordering kiosk and decides to try the system for the first time, expecting that
it will be faster than to get in the line.

Since Ming is starving at this point, he wants to get his food as quick as possible. Since a Big Mac costs only $2.29, he pays his meal by cash.

(This scenario illustrates the most common type of payment in McDonald's)

2. With a Prom Date

Mike just left the prom with his date and a bunch of his friends. Since it is already late at night, they stop at McDonald's. Mike wants to buy some food for himself and his date. He decides to get two sets of McDouble and Coke, one for his date and one for himself. They want to share a large fries.

In addition, Mike's date likes ketchup a lot. Mike wants to impress his date using this new system and does not want to look stupid in front of his friends.

(This scenario is to illustrate the 'quantity' and 'sauce' functions.)

3 Toys and Allergy

Mrs. Woods and her two kids come to McDonald's to buy lunch because her kids saw the Robo-Chi Pets TV commercial last night and desperately want the toys. Mrs. Woods decides to get one of the Extra Value Meals for herself and whichever items that offers toys for her kids. Since one of her kids is allergic to pickles, she has to be careful in ordering his meal.

(This scenario illustrates the "Special Request" function and how to get the toys that come with the Happy Meals. It also shows how to order for more than one person.)

Storyboards

'Quick BigMac' Scenario

Ming starts the ordering process by clicking on the Start Button. This takes him to the Order Page. Then he chooses Sandwiches on the left. The Sandwiches Menu is shown on the right. Ming clicks on the picture of the Big Mac, and this brings her to the Ordering Details Page. Since Ming does not like pickles, he clicks on the "Add Special Request" Button and this brings him to the Special Requests Page. Ming chooses "None" for pickles and then clicks OK. On the Ordering Details Page Ming clicks the OK Button again. This brings Ming back to the Sandwiches Page.

Ming then clicks on the View Order/Check Out Button. This brings him to the "Your Order Summary" Page. Ming chooses "To Go" and clicks on the Cash Button. This brings him to the Cash Page. After Ming inserts enough money into the machine, he clicks OK Button. This finishes the whole ordering process. Ming then gets the receipt and waits for the order.

'With a Prom Date' Scenario

Mike starts the ordering process by clicking on the Start Button. This takes him to the Order Page. Then he chooses Sandwiches on the left. The Sandwiches Menu is shown on the right. Mike clicks on the picture of the McDouble, and this brings him to the Ordering Details Page. He changes the quantity of McDouble to 2 by clicking on the arrow button on the right of the "Qty" field. Then he clicks the OK Button and this brings him back to the Sandwiches Menu.

Then Mike chooses Beverage on the left. The Beverage Menu is shown on the right. Mike clicks on Coca Cola, and this brings him to the Ordering Details Page. He changes the quantity of Coca Cola to 2 by clicking on the arrow button on the right of the "Qty" field. Then he clicks the OK Button and this brings him back to the Beverage Menu.

Then Mike chooses French Fries on the left. The French Fries Menu is shown on the right. Mike clicks on the picture of French Fries, and this brings him to the Ordering Details Page. Mike changes the size of the fries to Large by selecting from the Size drop down menu. He also changes the quantity of ketchup to 6 by clicking on the arrow button on the right of the "Ketchup" field. Then he clicks the OK Button and this brings him back to the French Fries Menu.

Mike then clicks on the View Order/Check Out Button. This brings him to the "Your Order Summary" Page. Mike clicks on the Cash Button. This brings him to the Cash Page. After Mike inserts enough money into the machine, he clicks OK Button. This finishes the whole ordering process. Mike then gets the receipt and waits for the order.

'Toys and Allergy' Scenario

Mrs. Woods starts the ordering process by clicking on the Start Button. This takes her to the Order Page. Then she chooses Happy Meal on the left. The Happy Meal Menu is shown on the right. Mrs. Woods clicks on the picture of the Hamburger Happy Meal, and this brings her to the Ordering Details Page. Since Mrs. Woods does not have special request for the Hamburger Happy Meal, she just clicks the OK Button. This brings her back to the Happy Meal Menu Page. Then Mrs. Woods clicks on the picture of Cheeseburger Happy Meal, and this brings her to the Ordering Details Page again. Because she does not want to have pickles in the Cheeseburger, she clicks on the "Add Special Request" Button and this brings her to the Special Requests Page. Mrs. Woods chooses "None" for pickles. Then she clicks OK. On the Ordering Details Page. Mrs. Woods clicks the OK Button again. This brings her back to the Happy Meal Page.

This time Mrs. Woods chooses Extra Value Meal on the left. The Extra Value Meal Menu is shown on the right. Mrs. Woods clicks on the picture of Big Mac Meal, and this brings her to the Ordering Details Page. Woods does not have special request for the Big Mac Meal, she just clicks the OK Button. This brings her back to the Extra Value Meal Menu Page. Mrs. Woods then clicks on the View Order/Check Out Button. This brings her to the "Your Order Summary" Page. Mrs. Woods chooses "To Go" and clicks on the ATM Card Button. This brings her to the ATM Card Page. After Mrs. Woods swipes her ATM Card, she enters her PIN Number. Then she clicks OK Button. This finishes the whole ordering process. Mrs. Woods then gets the receipt and waits for the order.
