"What do I want to learn from this class?"
(Some notes taken on 1.20.03)

  • hands on experience using tools from last semester (systems)
  • get work done on project
  • digging in deeper on material from last semester
  • learn more about film, what are some of the design patterns of film,
  • understanding design patterns will help with metadata
  • presentation and development of new blog system
  • production of project, make it more interesting
  • more about metadata acquisition
  • get practice figuring out production milestones in production
  • what are appropriate projects within a product
  • how to put together a plan towards reaching the product
  • learn how to apply the theory practically
  • implement/enhance the concepts
  • understand the idea of streaming media, how to build it physically
  • gaining access to a real system to implement ideas
  • remain steeped in the theoretical while learning the nuts and bolts of building the system
  • alternative platforms for display of video/media
  • more use of different people in the critique
  • more time for discussion of our work
  • practice and refine skills in discussing in what it is that i do
  • answer the question "what is my research?" without fear
  • interested in the idea of model of people consuming media as a two-way process, learning more about the history of efforts
  • getting the stuff i wouldn't get at a company: historical context; business models; how the ideas we talked about last semester translate into actual impacts
  • fiscal impact/reasons and how this can impact
  • know how to discuss impact from a bottom line p.o.v.
  • Improvement of my presenting skills, specifically my ability to clearly and succinctly articulate sophisticated ideas
  • Practice giving and receiving constructive criticism of mine and others' work
  • Learning from my classmates and their discoveries throughout the course of the product design process
