HabitWall - Yuki Chavez, Anthony Suen, Sydney Mayes, Wook Lee, Pin-i Chen
Project Modification
We have decided to change our HabitWall into a landscape display that shows immediate changes when one or more people exercise or stand immediately in front of it. The HabitWall will show flourishing changes even when someone is just standing in front of it or stretching. However, more physical movements will result in greater changes, including musical sounds.
The HabitWall will allow people to take mental breaks from work to view a nature scene or to get some exercises in without fear of embarrassment. It will become a normal place of the office environment where people can go for a revitalizing break, mentally and/or physically.
Modifications
We have decided to modify our project plan by simplifying and eliminating certain features:
1. Remove data mining and statistical analysis to decide the background image
2. Remove the need for sophisticated features like bluetooth and fitbit
3. Remove animal interaction feature. This will be more focused on habitat maintenance
4. Multiple FSRs to detect shifts in movement
5. High resolution pictures/videos replace 3D models of environments.
6. Main idea is to maintain the habitat - background image will go back to default gradually if left stagnant for a long period of time (ie. 1 hour)
Improvements
We have also come up with ways to improve the interaction of our design:
1. FSRs detects movements from individuals and group to affect the environmental display, at least two FSRs to promote group activities.
2. Add ambient music whenever any user is detected on the FSR
3. Immediate feedback can be seen on the screen whenever any user is detected on the FSR
Equipment
1) FSR
2) Projector
3) Computer
4) Arduino
5) Speaker
