For our project we intend to utilize fitness data people have on their smartphones or fitness devices, aggregate the data on a community level and then visualize them on a high resolution display of dynamic natural environments.
Our device will be placed in the main hall ways of buildings where individual fitness data can be collected via bluetooth. Whenever individuals get near the screen, objects in the enviroment will react to them based on the level of activity they have. Those who have done well in terms of meeting fitness goal will elicit more sunshine, flowers, or animals following them. Those who have fared poorly will see more rain, darker clouds, and animals running away from them.
On the community level, overall performance is visualized by the lushness of the environment. Poor performing communities will see barren desert environments, average performers will see savanahs or forests, while the best performers will be represented through rainforests.
Long term historical performance is shown by the mountains in the background. Great performance will indicated with peaks covered with snow, while low performance will be indicated by stumpy hill sides.
Individual performance will be shown as the individuals pass the screen in the foreground. The background environment will pan every 24 hours to the new daily average conditions. Finally long term performance will be visualized in the mountain scenery at the very back.
