Thoughtless Act 1

A hand rail to keep people from accessing an unsafe area (falling) is used as a bike rack.

Solution: Instead of installing just a railing, install an actual bike rack more easily facilitates locking up a bike while still keeping people safe.

Thoughtless Act 2

A trash bin is used as a place to display graphics (stickers, sketches, tags).

Solution: Provide public space for displaying graphics created by anyone.  Trash cans and other receptacles could also have digital content on them displaying content posted online.

Thoughtless Act 3

The edge of the brick base of a building is used for bottles (possibly to isolate them from the trash so people looking for objects to recycle can find them easily).

Solution: A receptacle for bottles and cans that is trasparent would allow people to see what's available for recycling.  The receptacle could also have one large hole at the top for depositing trash and mutliple small holes on the side at an angle that allow people to get bottles/cans out for recycling, but prevents the bottles and cans from falling out.

Thoughtless Act 4

The grate used to protect the windows of a store is also used as a mount for a trash can.

Thoughtless Act 5

A decorative/protective grate outside a window is used as a place to put shoes while drying.

Solution: Hooks near in a door way (so they are sheltered) could keep the shoes both sheltered and off the ground serving the same purpose.

Thoughtless Act 6

A tree is used as a stand for a "No Parking" sign.

Solution: I actually saw a possible solution to temporary parking signs.  Place a no parking sign nailed to a plank of wood in a bucket filled with sand bags.  This can be easily (de)constructed and transported, which is useful for temporary situations.

Thoughtless Act 7

A plastic bag is used as a seat cover (to keep it dry).

Solution:  A thin small tarp would probably be just as effective and keep more of the bike dry. A material that is easily wrung out easily and folded up very small is ideal for transportability.

Thoughtless Act 8

A door knob is used as a hook.

Solution: A pot holder with a hook that isn't fixed as is the case with the one in the picture would allow the holder or oven glove to clamp onto the oven handle where it would be most useful and conveniently located.

Thoughtless Act 9

(Picture unavailable)

The bars outside a window typically used to keep people out is used as a hat rack while a building is being painted.
