The Tools

Our design consists of two tools
1. The wall: This is an interactive screen, which represents one staff of music.
2. The brush/palette: Children select a color from the palette with the brush and then add it onto the wall, when the cue is given. The palette consists of seven colors of the rainbow with each color mapping to one of seven notes (red for do, orange for re etc.)

Interaction Design

Our goal is two-fold. One, the children should be able to associate colors with sound and determine where they are placed on a sheet of music. In Level 1, children learn the audio sounds that go with each color in a facilitated manner. For example, a red bird appears telling the child to use the child to color the note red and then producing the note do. In Level 2, the child is given a sound and he/she must color the bird based on his/her color association from Level 1.
Storyboards depicting these levels and a sketch of our tools are given below.
