Assignment #0: Focus
Assigned: January 27th, 2008
Due: February 2nd, 2008 at 11:59PM
Objective: In this assignment, you will form a group and set the focus for your project.
What to Do:
1) Form a group of two to four people from the class to work with.
2) Select a Focus for your project. Example project foci were presented during lecture in the first week. If you have your own idea, you are encouraged to propose that as well.
3) Identify the different kinds of users and/or stakeholders that will be relevant to your investigation. These may be direct users of your proposes system, others who will be impacted by it, or who will have an impact its design.
4) Identify the project mentors (organizations and/or individuals) who will help you locate and connect with potential users, and who could carry forward your ideas after the end of the project (optional).
What To Turn In:
The preferred method of turn-in is to create a dedicated page on the course Wiki, including each of the following components. To avoid a late penalty, e-mail a link to your group's project page to the professor and TA before 11:59 PM on Monday, February 2nd:
1) Cover sheet including yourself and your partners' names. Also a description of your chosen project focus, including the high-level goals and aims of the project. [1/2 page]
2) A list of potential user / stakeholder categories. [1/2 page]
3) Description and contact information for each of the project mentor organizations and/or individuals.
