Low-Fidelity Prototype and Usability Testing

SFMOMA-DAM Low-Fidelity Prototype

Test Procedure

1. Ask test user to sign the informed consent.

2. Explain process of evaluation.

A. We will each play roles during the evaluation. One will be the "facilitator," one will play "computer," and one will record your interactions with the prototype.

B. You'll go through two different scenarios, each with a number of steps that you'll need to complete.

C. You're encouraged to "think aloud" as you work through the scenarios. For instance, when you are trying to decide between menu choices, say those choices out loud. And when you want to type something in the "Search" box, speak what you would type. Also when you click on a button, say "Now I'm clicking on the submit button."

D. While you are encouraged to think aloud, you can't ask us direct questions. If necessary, we'll give suggestions.

3. Explain that the Low-fi prototype only contains "screens" related to the tasks described in the scenarios. If they "click" on an option for which there is no screen we'll let them know verbally.

4. Demo how to interact with the system. How to "click" on items, how to search, etc. Demo think aloud as well.

5. Conduct test.

A. Image user Scenario
B. Image creator Scenario

6. Debrief with tester.

7. Thank the test user!
