Chemists Outrun Laws in War on Synthetic Drugs

To combat new drugs, such as “Bath Salts”, specific new laws are being passed that contain catalogs of molecular compounds that are now banned in the US. As soon as a new law is passed, chemist are able to change the compounds to be a different on a molecular level, but still have the same psychopharmaceutical role. The assumption is that this new compound will eventually get added to the banned list, however the scope of these derivative compounds are huge, from the hundreds to the thousands depending on the compound.

In the FastCompany.com article, "This Week In Bots: Scanning The World in 3-D, To Make Life Better For You And Your Robots" Sweedish researchers at Kinect@Home project show how they have begun an effort to crowdsource the collection of digital 3d objects from anyone at home with a Microsoft Kinect.

The article “3 reasons to hate BI dashboards” by Joe McKendrick posted on the business technology news website ZDNet criticizes the current state of corporate dashboards for being poorly organized, not actionable, and not much more useful than they were 20 years ago even with technological advances.
