Back to the Future with CSS3
Due: 09-11
Description
We've discussed HTML markup and CSS styling at this point. This assignment is about organizing content for presentation and styling without using fancy scripting techniques. Yes, you are going back to 1995 but you are bringing CSS3 with you.
Assignment
Visit the media collection Animated Shorts at the Internet Archive. Pick an entry to view under
Recently Reviewed Items
and click on the icon. This will show you a link and an HTML iframe you can use to embed the content.- Pick a subset of 5 animations. There are 1029 of them to choose from and so you can get creative. You might want to pick them by a theme, keyword, or time period. Don't over think this choice. You are welcome to choose more than five.
- How would you organize this information (e.g., title, cluster choice, etc.)? Create a document or set of documents in HTML that organizes your chosen animations.
- Use the HTML given to embed the video into your various pages.
- Use CSS to style all your content. Can you improve the presentation over what the Internet Archive has done?
Remember: View source is your friend. Use the developer tools of the various browsers to inspect the HTML markup used at the Internet Archive.
Do not download the videos as part of the assignment. You do not need to do so and we're just linking to their content.
What to turn in
- All your HTML and CSS documents.
- A brief explanation (one or two sentences) of your choice of animations.
- Indicate which document I should start with to view the content.
How to turn it in
