I found several examples of thoughtless acts in my home.  Because we just moved in a few months ago, we still haven't fully figured out how to use every space effectively.

Perhaps we need a hamper?

In our bathroom, we have this huge tub that we never use and because we don't have a hamper, we tend to throw our dirty clothes in the tub to get them out of the way.

Design modification:  So I think the most effective design alteration would be to get rid of the tub since we never use it, freeing up a lot more space for oh, say, a hamper and more storage?  But since we aren't about to rip out plumbing at this point, I think a small hamper on the corner might suffice for now.

Clutter Island...

Our house has this random cubby that was built apparently to make use of the space between two weight bearing walls that are very close together.  So we have this floating island in the entry way that becomes the landing place for anything we are carrying upon entry.  This includes shoes, dog gear, mail, etc.

Design modification:  I think if we added some additional storage for shoes and a table for mail right inside the door, this space could be organized more effectively for things we want to take with us each time we leave the house - so the dog gear, keys and wallets, etc.  So a trip to the Container Store is in order! :)

Shower caddy?

This is a guest room shower that has no stand or shelf for soap or shamoo, etc, so the window sill gets used as a shelf.

Design modification:  A shower caddy in the corner.

Almost to storage...

So downstairs in the basement is our storage space for all of the stuff we don't use often of have a place for.  But there is a somewhat organization to the storage space itself so it seems that once something has been relegated to "basement", it ends up getting placed on the stairs for awhile until too many things are on the stairs and we finally take the time to find a place for them.

Design modification: Perhaps a bin or box in the storage space for the temporarily unorganized items - something as accessible and thoughtless and the stairs but easy to close or put out of sight.

Elevated Doggy Bed?

This one was just too cute to not include.  Not sure if it is a thoughtless act because Colby is typically pretty intentional in her actions. :)  But this smallish chair is in the corner where the sun typically shines through in the afternoon and is high enough that she can see out the window so it's now one of her favorite places even though it is clearly fairly small for her.

Design modification: Maybe we should get a bigger bench or chair for that corner?  Or a tall dog bed? Or train her not to get up on furniture (note: unlikely ;))
