I think that I can make cards or a small pamphlet for each project, a poster advertising the presentations, and something small for each project. I plan to build a website for the audiences to check each stories and images. second project is a podcasting website. I will draw a map/reprint google map , which I recorded the soundscape while I was walking the route. also I will design postcards for both of the projects. i’m working on thesis show.

Since I had to miss one class, I was not aware that there was an assignment due. For the final project, I will be working on aesthetic treatment for a web application that I have been working on, called whtwhnwhr. This web application lets the user interact with event calendars in a way that makes it easier to find events that are relevant. Borrowing from several concepts that we have learnt this semester, I hope to make it as useful and aesthetically pleasing as possible. An early version of the application can be seen here. http://people.ischool.berkeley.edu/~srikanth/whtwhnwhr/go For the print media, I will be working on a brochure that describes the application, highlights its usefulness anf explicates the design considerations that went into the design of the application. I will be looking at how the shelf can utilize size and color, social experiences, and any other mappings from a real world shelf to the virtual. This will likely take the form of a series of mockups created in illustrator along with a brief report of the functions included and their rationales. It is an expansion of my personal fiction story about a world of robots. I will be using concept learned in the class to create a design template for the world and characters, and use it to give some background information on the world and its story. Since this course is not an implementation class, I will focus on the aesthetic perspective and leave the technology part for the future. Empathy Mirror is a technology that enhances users’ ability to empathize with their friends’ feeling. We transformed the mirror, an ordinary everyday object, and incorporated a new digital interface, facial expression recognition, data transmission and image manipulation technologies. The outcome of this project bridges the communication gap created by remote communication such as telephone and online chatting. The results for this project will include a model, a video clip to describe the design concept, and print media such as a poster, a handout, and a business card. I will keep the interactions consistent in all products; the actions users play with Empathy Mirror will be similar to the way they interact with print media. For example, the handout can be folded and become a photo frame. Users can change the photo just as they can change the image on the Empathy Mirror. I will use reflective materials on the print media give an illusion of a mirror. The shape of print media will also be identical to the Empathy Mirror. For the color, I will play with the principles of color combination. For example, the major color scheme will be a warmer color matching with the complementary one, such as orange with light blue. I will apply the knowledge about font and font match, layout and grid, as well as symbol and icon I learned so far from this course to the design of Empathy Mirror. Since this project is being designed to be a social network for media production and learning specifically geared towards kids in inner city schools, I have decided to take artwork that is familiar to urban environments and incorporate this into my design. I am going to be heavily using graffiti art in my design and I am looking to give the page the look and feel of an inner city street. I want the users to be able to navigate the page by mousing over and clicking on different parts of the artwork to go to different parts of our site. I am using Gimp, graffiti fonts, and HTML to create the page. Additionally I am going to be producing a graffitti sketchbook as a printed artifact to hand out to the general public. This will allow the general public to not only take away a piece of graffiti art with them, but it will encourage them to try their own hand at creating their own piece of graffiti art. You can read about this in her post :) We are each going to design different aspects of this interaction. While she is focusing on how to display comments, I'm going to focus on how to design an interface between avatars and users that engages groups of users and takes advantage of the 3D aspect of Second Life. While I have not quite decided on my final ideas, I am thinking of focusing on some kind building block/flickr photo mashup, so avatars can collaboratively create 3D objects by building things out of their photos. This will no doubt involve thinking about several things we've learned about in class, most specifically color, layout and "beyond the desktop on the desktop," so, how to design an interaction that has elements of "beyond the desktop" (a 3d avatar centric environment) but will still be displayed on a screen. I thought it was due Sunday as usual. My class project would most likely be a sort of an interactive/education section (flash?) for a research project on human spine that my research advisor is performing jointly with UCSF. I'll try to use layout and colour techniques discussed in class. For the printed media part, I will likely do a small educational brochure. Sorry, I’m late. I thought it was due Sunday as usual.

Basically, we (a team of 6 students) are designing and implementing a prototype of an intelligent shopping cart. The main feature of it, is a location based indoor navigation system, which allows the cart to navigate its customer to the articles on their shopping list. The digital shopping list, which can be transferred by Bluetooth or NFC can be modified using the interface of the smart cart. In addition the cart will also provide detailed product information and the possibility to call a salesperson. Besides the interface I am going to present a couple of print media (booklet, Flyer, cardboard) that try to explain the features of the cart and their use cases.
