Key elements of our TUI project are table and chair. So here are the thoughtless acts that I came up with for chair and table
Table and chairs both are complementary to each other. Chairs are generally aligned to tables so we can sit and work. Of course there are situations where chairs alone exist, like in a large student classrooms and there we thoughtlessly use our laps table.
In cases when there are no chairs, we might use other parts of our environment to use as a support for sitting down. For eg stairs (pic attached). I observed people sitting on a couple of stair steps and using their laps as tables for working, compensating for the absence of tables and chairs thoughtlessly.
In other case, in a more relaxed environment I saw people use the combination of chair and table to stretch their legs as if on a sofa. (pic attached)
There were cases where chairs were used as obstructions like for keeping an auto-locking door open. (pic attached)
