We envision a system that would augment social interaction in a "singles" meeting type situation. There are businesses that facilitate single men and women meeting in a fast-paced social interaction environment. These types are situations are often awkward, forced, and cheesy. We propose an art installation that doubles as an enhanced singles meeting space. The system would be comprised of an installation space (art gallery, coffee shop, bar) with a grided underfloor lighting system and a visualization projected onto the ceiling. The visualization would be based on flocking agents that were controlled by two main input parameters: (1) a quantification of social interaction as measured by audio levels within the grided space as well force sensors in the floor; (2) an external controller, who could alter the rules governing the flocking agents using a joystick or FSR type grided map of the space. In addition to controlling the visualization, the external agent would also be able to control the underfloor lights using a joystick for position and a dial for brightness.
