October 21, 2006 - Assignment 4 Returned
Assignment 4 has been handed back at the beginning of the class. See grading sheet for grade distribution and explanation on grading.

The databases that were used in class as example, i.e., the Cookie and Northwind databases are available for download via the above links.

September 19, 2006 - Workshop materials
The slides from todays workshop are available as either pdf or odp. You can also get the diagram that we created today. Please keep in mind that the diagram is incomplete (as was mentioned in class). The slides are similarly not meant to be used by themselves.
September 18, 2006 - Database design tools
Here a page with links to some of the tools we'll be using this week. I will be using Dia on Tuesday, so you might want to install this (unless you have Visio, which will also work fine). We might try DBDesigner on Thursday, but you don't need it for the assignment.
September 11, 2006 - Assignment 1 Returned, Assignment 2 Out
Assignment 1 is being handed back at the end of the class. The grade distribution is as follows:

September 7, 2006 - Class Mailing List
The class mailing list has been set up - i257(at)sims.berkeley.edu. You should have received two emails that were sent to the list today. If you didn't, send a messag to majordomo@sims.berkeley.edu from your correct email address and put the following text in the body: "subscribe i257" (just that). Note that the name of the list is "i257" not "is257".
