Midterm Exam

Correction -- The books will be in a locker in the student area in the basement of South Hall. Copies of the title pages and versos for the books are also in the locker -- The following books are available at the desk in the Computer Laboratory. Please return them to the desk when done examining them, and please keep them in the lab for others to use.

Part 1

Fill out MARC worksheets for the following four titles:

You may use online Library of Congress MARC formats, the copies of AACR II and Wynar/Taylor on reserve in the Lab as documentation for this part of the assignment. You are to build complete MARC records for these items, with the exception of subject headings and classification numbers. Use the Name Authority File on OCLC or RLIN to verify the form of all name, uniform title, and name-title entries. Please do not use OCLC bibliographic records directly (They are not always AACR2 form in any case).

There is a blank worksheet in Word form available in the "handouts" folder under the "groups/is245" folder, along with a filled-in example for a record. Copy the worksheet into a word processor, fill it in with your work, and print the results to hand in.

Part 2: Copy Cataloging

Search for each of the following items in OCLC and print out the record you find. Then modify the records to come up to AACR2 standards (ignore the subject headings and classification). Please capture the records (i.e., cut and paste from OCLC Telnet) and edit them in a word processor.)
