Familiarize yourself with the Bay Area Rapid Transit System (BART), either by recalling previous experiences with it, or by going to a BART station and riding a train and analyzing your experiences from the perspective of a service system.

  1. Describe the BART service system by identifying the services used or experienced by people who ride BART. Some of the services that create and deliver value are offered by 3rd parties working in conjunction with or using information provided by BART; part of your challenge in this assignment is coming up with a principled way of bounding the scope of the service system.
    1. Give each service a name
    2. Describe - in a sentence or two - the function provided or value created by the service
    3. Identify (if appropriate) the inputs to the service or how the service is discovered or requested
    4. Identify (if appropriate) the outputs or results of the service
  2. Organize these services using any point-of-view or classification scheme you think is appropriate and depict the service system using one or more diagrams that represents the relationships among the services

If you can't come up with at least 10 services, think harder!
