Sally Thomas, Rosalie Lack, and Joanne Miller, masters’ students
in the School of Information Management and Systems at UC Berkeley, are
conducting studies to assess the usability of a World Wide Web site under
development.
If you volunteer to participate in this study, you will be asked to test the prototype of the computer interface and answer some questions. The questions will be asked verbally before, during and after the search sessions. There may also be written questionnaires before and after the search sessions. Your interactions with the computer will be documented on videotape and in writing, with complete confidentiality assured.
There are no direct benefits to you for participating other than what may be an educational experience in viewing an interesting Web site. There are also probably no risks to you; you will simply be testing the interactive prototype, viewing and evaluating the results. Your participation is completely anonymous--we will not name you if and when we discuss your behavior in class or research publications.
