Design Sketches - Jeff

Below are three sketches of a possible Paparazzi design. I focused on the Keyword Search, Tracking and Linking tasks. Note how the results are displayed in a nested form. The nested display is intended to help the reader follow a conversation. After the nesting reaches a certain depth, the display will not show any more and instead display a link.

I wanted to show a lot of status information. For example, the number of results and the current query is displayed. The results should also display the keyword in an emphasized state in the context of use on the weblog entry.

Below is a proposed "Linking" interface. This interface would allow a reader to enter a weblog UYL (or a the URL of a specific entry). The user could sort based on the most recent posts on that blog, or the most-linked posts. I would utilize the nested display used above in the Keyword Search example. In this case, it would be necessary to show which blog "owns" the various posts, as they are not guaranteed to all be from a single site (unless nobody links to these posts and joins the "conversation").

This last image shows a proposed weblog tracking interface. Since some users would like to monitor particular topics, and some like to monitor specific blogs, both should be available. We also found that people like getting digested news, so an aggregated RSS feed or an email alert would be possible notification methods.
