    Search Refinement

    Users are presented with faceted data from which to formulate their search criteria. Each facet contains a hierarchy that allows users to select criteria at varying levels of specificity. Facets can also be combined to narrow down search results. For instance, the user can drill down on the Order Facet to select Order>Family>Genus.

    Results Summary

    Within this set of search results, the user can drill down further to select Order>Family>Genus>Lasiurus. She can also use the Location Facet to select Location>Asia>China. The user is presented with a summary of the search results. As she continues to refine her search criteria, the contents of the summary table change to reflect her actions. Once she is satisfied with the result set, she can download or print the results of her search.

    Format Results

    The user can format her results. She can add fields to or delete fields from the result set.

    Results Detail

    She can also view the details of each record. Each record will contain various fields with their corresponding values.

    Map of Results

    The user can also view a map that shows the distribution of species based on the result set.
