Personas - Anton

Anton Bellatino
Digital Imaging Specialist, SFMOMA
Motto: "Art First!"

Anton is 28 years old and he loves his job. He's a digital imaging specialist at SFMOMA. He spends virtually 100% of his time creating digital images of artwork, using either a digital camera or a scanner, and then processing them with Photoshop. What he likes most about his job is the art. His motto is: "Art First!"

He also likes the fact that people let him do his job his way. Creating a great quality image is what matters most to him. But he wants to be the one to determine what right is. Anton is patient, conscientious, and rarely losses his cool, either with his coworkers or with technology. The one thing Anton does't like is having to wait for other people to do their jobs before he can do his. While he enjoys working alone, Anton is not anti-social. He enjoys talking to coworkers, particularly about Art world news and gossip, for Anton is also an artist himself. Working primarily in collage, he also still paints a little, which is what he studied in college at UC Davis.

Anton never pursued graduate school, deciding instead to move to the big city and to see if he could use his art school training to land a job in the multimedia industry. One thing led to another and pretty soon he found himself working at large software company. He liked the money and the status of working at a well-known company, but he didn't like the creative director who said she encouraged "iindividual creativity," but only accepted work that looked like other work done for the company. He quit to take the job at the museum. To supplement his museum income, Anton set up a high-end Macintosh computer system at home, which allows him to do graphic design work on the side.

Anton loves media, particularly films. One of the things he likes about living in San Francisco, is that he can go to 2 or 3 movies a week. His tastes range from obscure European films shown at Goethe Institute and Alliance France, to art films shown at the SF Art Institute, to Spike and Mike's Animation Festivals, to Hollywood action films.

Goals:

1. Work closely with art.
2. Work independently.
3. Define own work processes.
4. Learn more about individual artists and movements.
5. Be proud of image quality and be known inside the museum as someone whose work is always of excellent quality.
6.
Make the images of artworks he creates available to others in the museum.
7.
Ensure that the images of artworks he creates will be available in the future
8.
Help streamline the process of creating and using digital images of artworks at SFMOMA
