We have made some
decisions with regards to the personas, but still have some decisions
to make.
First of all, we
have decided to dispense with Bosko. We have come to the conclusion
that he is an edge case and should not be the focus of our design.
At this point, we
have not finalized the information architecture for our project. We
are considering two main alternatives (as reflected in our initial designs):
a general-purpose SIMians discussion forum, or a specialized course
information discussion forum. Although the specialized course discussion
forum could theoretically be incorporated within a larger SIMians discussion
forum, designing both would probably be too broad a scope for us to
address.
This pending decision
about the direction of the project will affect the personas on which
we will focus our attention:
- If we choose
the general SIMians discussion forum model, we will concentrate upon
Cindy, Ed and Meg. We will not focus upon Annie because her tasks
will essentially be duplicated by the other personas. Meg will be
included because she is the only persona who would use the alumni
bulletin board.
- On the other
hand, if we choose to design a course discussion forum, we will concentrate
upon Ed, Cindy, and Annie. Meg will not be included since we are assuming
she would not be interested in the course discussion forum.
