Initial Design Alternatives

The project group split into two teams of two to develop alternative designs. As an initial "seed" of design difference, it was decided that one design would be threaded and the other linear (see Vocabulary page for definitions).

During the design process, an additional major differentiation emerged. The linear design team chose to focus on one problem implied by several of the scenarios, especially Ed's: how to present a broad set of interrelated information in a specific subject area, including a discussion component. The threaded design team focused primarily on the portion of Cindy's scenario after she enters the discussion forum (i.e., browsing and posting tasks).
