First, thank you very much for your time and availability. We appreciates your efforts and collaboration.
SFnight is website focused on nightlife information of San Francisco, more specifically bars/clubs and their events. You may find some Restaurants or Cafes there if they have bars and clubs as well.
This website has two audience groups: consumers of nightlife events like you, and the nightlife players, such as DJ, bar owners etc.
In this preview, and testing, we only are interested to learn about your perspective as a nightlife consumer: someone who likes to go to bar or clubs, for joining live music, djs, dancing or just for relaxing in a bar alone or with some friends.
First, we will introduce you to SFnight, and then we will ask you to perform three tasks. As we said before, we are NOT testing YOU. We are testing our prototype design ideas and how well they work for users. Your honest feedback will help us to improve the site. So, we would like you to think loud. By thinking aloud we mean speaking what’s on your mind as you perform each task. It is very important for us to know when you are feeling confused, not sure where to click, or when you like or don't like something. You are like our thermometer: if you feel confused, others also might feel the same. Speaking out loud may take some getting used to. We will help by reminding you. After each task, we will give you a quick questionnaire to better understand your thoughts and opinions.
We will only be testing parts of SFnight. The prototype is not complete. The data/content is not always accurate or real. Try to ignore that and focus on the process. We will let you know when some thing is not supposed to work.
At the homepage, you will be able to find information of events and venues in several ways. For example, Events can be found by date, event type and music type (Happening in SF), as well as weekday (Find Events). Venues can be found by location, type, and venue name. For searching in this testing, you will be able to search using only the Happening in SF.
(Point to the navigation bar.) These left-hand links are not working yet.
We decided not to show the following since the script is too specific and part of the test is to see if users can find these areas easily and be able to use the features without any preconceived ideas.
In this area, SFnight provides the Editor's Picks of this
week. You can update this area
according to your music preferences. To do so, you need to create mySFnight. In
this are we will provide the top venues.
Now, let's search an event. From the search results, you
can check some information, go to the event page or venue page, as well as do
some interaction.
The event page provides several information. From here
you can check the venue, add it to Mysfnight, or create a list to send to your
friends. You probably will see the same event or venue picture, but this will
be implemented later. As you see, the other information changes already.
Now let’s start the testing. Again, we are not testing you. We are testing the website prototype. Please think out loud. For example: "Well, where I can do this". Don't worry about doing something that you think is wrong. Also feel free to ask any question. Some we will be able to answer. Others not, it may be part of what we are trying to test. Again we will say something when things are not available.
