Possible Solution

1

Evan/ Front page - http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/

We know who is providing the travel content but not who TraveLite is.

#1 (Establish an identity)

Include a link to TraveLite staff, mission.

2

Evan/ Front page - http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/

Only indication that your on the home page is that the name isnt a link a more obvious indicator could be helpful.

#3 (Visibility of system status)

Breadcrumbs?Home at the top of the page?

2

Evan/ Account/bookshelf page- http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/Account.cfm

You have purchased access to the following content does that mean the same as they can create guides from the following areas? Do users really care what content theyve purchased or instead what they have access to?

#4 (Match between system and the real world) and #14 (Don't let organizational issues and problems show through the interface)

Tell users what they can use, not what theyve bought.

2

Evan/ Add/Remove Destinations page - http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/Destinations.cfm

i icon means what?Throughout the rest of the site most links are labeled, why an icon here?

#4 (Match between system and the real world) and #7 (Consistency and standards)

Have a really good reason why youre using icons instead of text here.

3

Evan/ Add/Remove Destinations page - http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/Destinations.cfm

Does add to guide mean add to the guide Im building now?Its not entirely clear.

#5 (Follow real-world conventions) and #3 (Visibility of system status)

Clarify (add to current guide, or include this region in the guide Im working on now)

2

Evan/ Add/Remove Destinations page - http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/Destinations.cfm

Available Destinations implies that there are other destinations that are not available. Is that what you want to say?

#4 (Match between system and the real world)

Say other destinations instead?

4

Evan/ Choose Guide Type and Size page - http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/GuideSize.cfm

The buttons and links for Let Me Build My Guide and Build It For Me seem to indicate that the buttons and links do different things (otherwise why would they both be there?)

#7 (Consistency and standards)

If this is only part of the prototype no prob.If this is continuing later choose one or the other.

1

Evan/ Preview - http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/Preview.cfm

Cannot preview the guide from this page

#6 (User control and freedom)

Allow users to preview guide before customization.

4

Evan/ Preview - http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/Preview.cfm

Not clear that if you want to restrict the region for the guide you need to edit

#4 (Match between system and the real world) and #14 (Don't let organizational issues and problems show through the interface)

Clarify that edit means both the location and lodging/food/etc options.

2

Evan/ US: California/ Nevada, San Francisco page- http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/RefineRegion.cfm

Overview opens country, etc description in the same window instead of the great pop-ups seen elsewhere (making the user have to hit the back button to get back to the guide)

#8 (Flexibility and efficiency of use)

Have overview open in a pop-up.

3

Evan/ US: California/ Nevada, San Francisco page- http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/RefineRegion.cfm

Theres no indication of what point Im in in the guide creation process what else do I have to do to have a completed guide?

#3 (Visibility of system status)

Breadcrumbs?A status indocator (you have to do this and this then youre guide will be complete?Or you can finish this guide at any time?)

3

Evan/ US: California/ Nevada, San Francisco page- http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/RefineRegion.cfm

What are The Essentials?

#4 (Match between system and the real world)

Change to general regional/ travel information?

2

Evan/ US: California/ Nevada, San Francisco page- http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/RefineRegion.cfm

Evans not a foreign visitor to any US destination any way to remove Information for Foreign Visitors options from US travel guides he makes?

#8 (Flexibility and efficiency of use)

Allow users to customize settings so they dont see international traveler information on US destinations.

4

Evan/ US: California/ Nevada, San Francisco page- http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/RefineRegion.cfm

Once Ive refined my selection how do I complete and save the guide? Will Finished do it?Once its saved where do I go to get or download it?

#4 (Match between system and the real world)

Add or clarify options for saving, downloading guides from this page.

4

Evan/ Download Dialog Box page - http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/Download-Dir.cfm

I assume the actual page will have links back to TraveLite?

#6 (User control and freedom)

Add links home to TraveLite if theyre not already there.

4

Evan/ Preview - http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/Preview.cfm

Have to preview the guide to download it no way to download it without previewing.

#8 (Flexibility and efficiency of use)

Allow users to download the guide without previewing it.

3

Savannah/ Purchase Content - http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/Purchase.cfm

The two options for canceling purchases are confusing.

#5 (Follow real-world conventions)

Is there a way for the system to know where youre coming from rather than relying upon the user to do so?

3

Savannah/ Add and Remove Regions page - http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/AddRemoveRegions.htm

She doesnt but what if Savannah wanted some of everything and didnt want to edit the region? There doesnt seem to be a way to do that from this screen.

#6 (User control and freedom)

Allow users to not edit the region and include everything.

2

Savannah/ Food page - http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/Refine_Restaurants.cfm

Whats the difference between High and Luxury?

#4 (Match between system and the real world)

List links to specific price ranges.

2

Savannah/ Lodging page - http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/Refine_Accommodations.cfm

Area names are great but how to visitors know what they are?

#4 (Match between system and the real world)

Area/Neighborhood information should be supplemented with a map and additional information a tourist where an area is or whats there.

2

Charley/ Attractions page - http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/Charley_scenario/Refine_Attractions_Charley.cfm

This section is currently 25K in size what specifically does this mean to the user?

#4 (Match between system and the real world) and #14 (Don't let organizational issues and problems show through the interface)

Perhaps it would be better to phrase it as percentage of the current guide or a percentage of the target guide size.

3

Charley/ Attractions page - http://fusion.sims.berkeley.edu/travelite/interactive_sarahV1-2/Charley_scenario/Refine_Attractions_Charley.cfm

Theres a Finished but no Save to Finish Later

#4 (Match between system and the real world)

Add a Save to Finish Later option.
