IS 204 Part 2 Final paper

In this assignment, you will apply the readings of this part of the course to a case study of your own devising.

The case can be something from your own experience, or something that you know about from the media or from other sources. I don't expect you to do original research on the case, though you may find it useful to collect some information (e.g., from published reports, from people you know, or other sources -- but this is not a necessary part of this assignment). The case should have something to do with the introduction and/or use (successful or unsuccessful) of some information technology or information system. (You can use the same case that you used for assignments 1 or 2, if you wish, or something else entirely.)

In your paper, you will describe this case and analyze it using at least three topics from the list below (all of which we discussed this semester). Your use of each of the readings or sets of readings should be substantive, helping you (and your reader) to better understand the case and generating new insights. The point of the assignment is for you to (1) review and understand the readings, (2) demonstrate your understanding to me, (3) compare and synthesize the readings, and (4) investigate the usefulness of the readings for understanding a specific instance of the intersection of information technology and an actual setting, users, and uses. You may want to weave the topics together into one analysis, or to analyze the case from three different perspectives using the three topics sequentially.

Your paper should be approximately 8 to10 single-spaced pages (around 4,000 words), but what counts is substance, not wordcount. Due Wednesday, Dec 10, 5 pm. Early papers are welcome!

Review my comments on earlier assignments for guidelines and for common problems to avoid. (Comments on Assignment 2 will be posted shortly.)
