• Each different type of material has a preferred location for deriving information about it.

  • Books and printed material
    • Title page
  • Cartographic Materials (Maps, globes, etc)
    • The map itself, or containers, stands, etc.
  • Sound recordings
    • Disc label, cassette label, etc.
