Klout (http://www.klout.com) is a social media analytics company which measures each individual's influences on the social network. Once a user registers his/her account of social network services such as Facebook, twitter, linkedin, etc., Klout collects data from the services and calculate "Klout Score", which varies from 1 to 100.

The "Klout Score" is calculated by aggregating activities from multiple social media services. There are several norms Klout is referring to. For example, When collecting data from Facebook, it looks up number of mentions, likes, friends, and subscribers. For Twitter, it refers to number of RTs, mentions, followers, etc. Klout sets score for each activity and sum up whole score.

By collecting data and showing score Klout aims to empower each individual. It wants to show that every personnel can have enough impact to influence others. Also, it would like to help users how their contents can influence more people.

Once you register your accounts of social network services it starts to access your contents and analyze them. It takes up to one day to calculate the first Klout score, and then it periodically updates the score. My Klout score fluctuates currently between 55~60.

Klout does not reveal the algorithm of Klout score. You can see not only your friends' score, but also celebrities' score like Barrack Obama, Justin Bieber, and others who have 90+ score.

By watching Klout Score which changes according to your activities you can track when you got more influences, find what you can do for more influences. It will help you recognize your social position. In the long term this can be a standard measure for social impacts of personnels.
