The link above shows a list of espn, and espn related channels, with the parody of "espn 8 'the ocho'" from the film dodgeball. All of the channels being listed can be classified many ways. First, they are all classified as "things owned by disney", also they can be classified as "sports stations". Each classification has a different context, one being more buisness related and anothe rbineg more content related. looking at the list itself, one familiar with the disney owned channels would know that the channels listed from top to bottom are ones that host more premium content. premium content meaning more marquee games and better time slots. Knowing that Espn(1) has better content than espn2 and below, one can see there is a perfect hierarchy from top to bottom.
other things one can notice are some of the resource descriptors that, on paper, show the ultimate differentiate the channels. Things like "deportes" show things in spainish, "U" shows thinsg with a college emphasis, and classic shows older games. without these descriptors to the channels, it would be hard for disney to brand their channels, and for people to know what makes everything unique.
analyzing all these things, I truly think that ESPN8 would be perfect for obscure sports that are not mainstream, just like movie.
