Who is organizing the Web?

Author here talks about the lack of an Owner for the Web. The web technology formats such as HTML, CSS don't have an owner to take the responsibility for their continuous competitive development, unlike platforms such as iOS and Android who have large companies to back them and large interest in making sure these platform succeed.

Author also mentions that he believes unless the issue is addressed, this will result in web going back to the network of haperlinks. The web may end being dominated by few services such as Facebook, Twitter, Google and these services will have native-apps which later direct us to the different information with the help of HTTP.

If we really think on it, we love our information from the web to be streamlined from selected few services as it makes our experience consistent and very convenient. For example, we Google whenever we need to search any information, Facebook for connecting with people and discovering content with friends, and so on. So, it may be natural that these services will have a native-app to provide the best possible experience for us and these apps will help us guide to the respective content through html.
