Maybe if we had have read this article in Chile before the earthquake, Twitter would have been, even more, an useful tool. Yes, because in Chile we used Twitter a lot after the earthquake in Concepcion, Chile last February.
It was weird that night, because immediately after the catastrophe, the only service available in Chile was Mobile Internet, specially the 3G network. We hadn't water, gas or electricity, but we could use our phones or netbooks to navigate and inform ourselves. And Twitter was the media to communicate in realtime.
With this syntax it would be easy to organize the tons of information generated in crisis situations, but i think that it is to 'computer oriented' to become itself in the ruler in this kind of situations. If something would happen, would you use it?
