The enormous amount of information on the web tempts lazy, desperate, or unethical students to plagiarize -- turning in someone else's writing as their own. Full text techniques used by web search engines make exact copying easy to detect, so student plagiarists often disguise that they are copying by substituting synonyms or by deleting or inserting sentences into copied paragraphs. 

• What kinds of search models or natural language processing techniques can detect non-exact copying? Explain why they work.
