Optional Extra Credit Assignment 3: Research Paper
(Up to 30 extra points may be awarded for successful completion of this assignment)

The goal of this assignment is to let you do some further reading and study on some of the topics that have been discussed in class.

Using the textbooks and assigned readings as sources, find an area within the broader context of information organization and retrieval that is of interest to you. Read at least 3 additional papers, or chapters in books, on this topic (beyond those assigned) and write a 2-4 page paper on what you have found out.

For example you might find that you would like to learn more about IR methods for multimedia objects. You could read the chapter in the IR text on this topic, and find some additional papers of interest. Then report on what you have found out about in this area.
