Economics of Intellectual Property

Seminar Requirements

The three requirements for successful completion of this seminar are (i) regular attendance, (ii) responsibility to act as discussant (perhaps in pairs) for one of the presentations, including the preparation ahead of time of questions or observations, and (iii) a paper of 10-20 pages, integrating your discussion of one of the papers with other treatments of the subject. The paper should cover the economic, legal and policy issues, and highlight open questions. It should be an integrative treatment that includes a fairly comprehensive bibliography. While we expect that most papers will focus on one or more of the papers presented during the seminar, we are open to papers on other subjects, although we will want you to check with us before you take this path. We are also open to the possibility of working with students who want to do a more ambitious paper on an independent study basis.
