General Information

Warning
There will be required readings for the first lecture/class! Read them or drop the class!

You are responsible for managing your reading and assignment workload. The readings are assigned by the lecture in which we plan to discuss them. Some lectures will have more pages of reading than others. It is highly recommended that you look ahead into the schedule to determine if you should start the readings earlier than, say, the breakfast before the corresponding lecture. If you do so, consider bringing coffee and pastries for everyone in class so that we will all be patient with you as you ask questions like "what chapter were we suppose to read?".

If you think that there will be an issue with the class schedule and the class schedule of your other classes, let the instructor know of the issue as far in advance as possible.

Week 1

Enable JSP for your SIMS account and/or install Tomcat onto your laptop computer (if you are using one). See the Web Application Server resource notes. Do this a week before the first day of class.

Read the chpaters 1, 2, and 3 of [HFSJSP]. There's 90 pages -- perhaps a 3 hour read.

We will run through the excercises in chapter 3 on the first day of class. You might want to think of an alternative application to build. For example, "SIMS Course Advisor."
