Readings

Many readings are are password-protected. In addition, if you are connecting from a non-UCB IP address, you need the Library Proxy Service to access readings from journals.

Assignments

Please hand in two printed copies of the assignment at the beginning of the class in which the assignment is due. We would also like a digital copy of the assignment. If you are an iSchool student, please upload here -- use the link for i214, naturally. The password and username are your usual iSchool ones -- not the same as the ones for the readings. If you are not an iSchool student, email both of us a copy instead of using that link.

Prerequisites

The IS203 pre-req is leftover from when 203 was taught in the spring and 214 in the fall; it is no longer required. ("Permission of instructor" of course covers all kinds of possibilities.)

Course Texts

Observing the User Experience, Mike Kuniavsky, Morgan Kaufmann, 2003.

The book is not at the AUC bookstore. You will need to order a copy (maybe here). It doesn't cover all that we are going to cover, and it's not always very thorough, but it's the best source I've found for this class.

Grading

Grading in this class will be as follows:
