Prerequisites

The IS203 pre-req is leftover from when 203 was taught in the spring and 214 in the fall; it is no longer required. ("Permission of instructor" of course covers all kinds of possibilities.)

Course Texts

Observing the User Experience, Mike Kuniavsky, Morgan Kaufmann, 2003.

The book is not at the Cal bookstore. You will need to order a copy (maybe here). It doesn't cover all that we are going to cover, and it's not always very thorough, but it's the best source I've found for this class.

Homework

Homework is to be submitted in paper and electronic form. Submit electronically at https://www.ischool.berkeley.edu/upload/.

Grading

Grading in this class will be as follows:

Mailing List

i214@sims.berkeley.edu (CHANGED from is214 8/30/06)
Use my.sims to subscribe OR send an email to majordomo@sims.berkeley.edu with "subscribe i214" in the body.

Class Wiki

There is now a class Wiki called I214f06 (CHANGED from is214f06 8/30/06) . You will need an iSchool computing account to access it. If you do not already have an account (i.e. you are not an iSchool student or are a new iSchool student) please request an account by filling out the form at here.

Once your account is active please log into the wiki here and register a WikiName by clicking the Register link in the menu.

Lastly, send an email to Vlad with your WikiName so that he can give you access to the i214 group.
You can select the i214 from the group list on the left, or go directly to it here.
